INTRODUCTION

ABOUT BERNARD DUTHOY

As a young artist I used different materials to sculpt. I experimented with polymers and polyesters, I made bronzes and combined a variety of materials and colours. My work expressed my own struggle for life. I became a man, a husband, a father. I was young and restless. I absorbed colours, lines, shapes, ideas, and crafted them to my own vision of the world.

Growing older made me wiser, greyer, happier, calmer. The absorption of lines, colours and shapes is still intense, and today I can reshape them to sculptures and furniture that are purer than before. That is why I have only been using wood in my latest work. I use pure wood, in respect of the raw and noble material it is, and I sculpt it to creations for my Kings and Queens.
